I agree, showing solidarity with the Palestinian cause, especially in the West is extremely important. This scarf symbolises justice and freedom against Zionism, which is by design, a racist and abhorrent colonial settlor ideology. It’s not an expression against Jews, but rather, a stand against Zionist state terror and apartheid - it’s the least we can do as we watch this Zionist regime commit a genocide and mass murder in Gaza - unfolding on our television screens

The keffiyeh is a symbol of solidarity with Palestinians in their fight against Israel. So calling it a cultural garment gives the idea that Palestinian culture is based on being against Israel. Understandably, it is a very offensive garment to Israelis and much of the Jewish community because it is literally worn to symbolize being AGAINST their existence in their ancestral homeland. This type of rhetoric is what fuelled October 7th. Instead of dividing people with garments, we should be working together, helping people live peacefully in the land TOGETHER. You talk about your safety when wearing a keffiyeh, as a Jew I feel unsafe when I see someone wearing one because it literally symbolizes being against my people being in their ancestral homeland. I feel unsafe wearing Jewish symbols as necklaces symbolizing MY RELIGION.
